New York Knicks point guard Elfrid Paytn will be sidelined a bit longer, as the team is reporting that his hamstring injury has not fully healed.

According to an official update from the Knicks, Payton underwent an evaluation on Tuesday. The results of this evaluation proved that he had not fully recovered. The former No. 10 overall pick will go through additional evaluations in 10 days.

Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith Jr. have picked up the slack at point guard through the early stages of this season with Payton sidelined. That trend will likely continue until he's fully recovered.

Payton, who's been out since late-October, has made four appearances with the Knicks this season (three starts), racking up averages of 8.0 points on 37.9 percent shooting from the field (62.5 percent from beyond the arc), 3.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 25.5 minutes per outing.

Payton was spotted taking jumpers with his teammates prior to Thursday's win over the Dallas Mavericks. He appears to be making progress in his recovery, but the Knicks will likely be cautious with their approach to Payton's return.

The Knicks have struggled through their first 14 games of the season, recording a 4-10 record. They did, however, hand the Cavs a 123-105 L on Monday night.

New York will be back in action on Wednesday, when they'll travel to Philadelphia for a matchup against the Sixers. Tip-off inside the Wells Fargo Center is set for 7:00 .p.m. ET.
