In the last 2 1/2 years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, veteran big man Enes Kanter developed a strong bond with All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook.

Following the trade to the New York Knicks over the weekend, Kanter has a few keywords of advice from Westbrook that he's set to impart on the next venture of his NBA career.

Westbrook likely played by that notion to a far greater extent this past season following the departure of Kevin Durant last summer that may have provided more fuel to fire to his MVP campaign. Kanter saw that firsthand on how that type of mentality can make an impact.

The 25-year-old has an opportunity to latch onto a significant role with the Knicks in his first season in the frontcourt alongside rising star big man Kristaps Porzingis. Kanter has proven to be a more than capable scorer and a solid source of rebounding despite his defensive issues.

What will be interesting to see if he will use that same mentality when he takes the court against the Thunder this upcoming season. This will more than likely be the exception to the rule given he has a strong personal connection to many of his former teammates. Nonetheless, it's something that he will abide by moving forward in his career.
