It is no secret that New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter is not in the best place right now in terms of his relationship with his team. However, this does not make him any less of a supporter of the franchise, and he still has nothing but high hopes for the future of the Knicks.

Speaking to Ian Begley of ESPN, Kanter shared how he is fully aware of how fickle his situation is right now, and that he can be shipped off at any minute:

“People know I love the Knicks. And I want to be here, and I want to play basketball here and I want to win here,” Kanter says. “But if they trade me, I cannot say, ‘No, I don’t want to get traded.’ But I don’t want to get traded. I guess with all the rumors, we just have to wait and see what happens.”

Nonetheless, being a model professional, the 26-year-old understands that this is still a business, and that hard decisions need to be made:

Kanter also knows that New York hopes to attract a top free agent this summer. To have enough cap space to sign a max free agent, the Knicks would have to renounce their rights to the seven-year veteran. That’s why Kanter paused Thursday when asked if he sees himself as part of the Knicks’ future. “I would love to be part of the future of the Knicks, of course,” he says.

Enes Kanter is currently in the final year of his four-year, $70 million deal. The Knicks do not seem keen on signing him to another big deal this summer, so despite his desire to stay on, it appears that Kanter's days with the organization are numbered.
