The New York Knicks frontcourt will receive a huge boost on Wednesday versus the Miami Heat, as Enes Kanter will be available to play on the night. However, they will still be shorthanded, as Frank Ntilikina will sit out the game due to an ankle injury, according to Barbara Baker of News Day.

Kanter has missed the past three games because of back spasms and it was reported that it caused him a lot of discomfort that he couldn’t even walk without any pain. His return will add more depth to the Knicks’ big man rotation and should be able to produce his usual double-double numbers if he shows no ill effects of the back issues he was dealing with.

Not a lot of news has surfaced about the severity of Ntilikina’s ankle injury, and he is considered day-to-day for now. The Knicks may also be taking a cautious approach on their rookie, as they understand there’s still a long way to go to the season. The additional rest could also do his game wonders as he has been struggling of late, not being to score in double figures in the past 11 outings.

Ron Baker is expected to see an uptick in his minutes and should be the primary backup of Jarrett Jack. Kanter, on the other hand, will most likely be reinserted in the starting unit by head coach Jeff Hornacek, sending Kyle O’Quinn back to the bench after taking his place during the games he sat out.
