Just over a week before free agency officials starts, things are already going haywire. One of the biggest names to be thrown into the mix is former MVP Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook is apparently not pleased with the situation over at Houston. And after an unsuccessful trial year with former teammate James Harden, reports are saying that Brodie wants out.

Apparently, one of the front runners to snag the 2017 MVP are the New York Knicks. The ‘Bockers have a team who have been looking to grab a superstar for the past few years and, unfortunately, they've been quite disappointed and haven't been back to the playoffs since 2013.

With the news of Russell Westbrook's potential availability in trades, Knicks fans seem quite split on whether or not they want the Brodie to play in MSG:

Russell Westbrook could definitely do some damage in New York. but with what fans have seen with the nine-time All-Star, there's a ton of cons to go along with his pros. This is probably why the Knicks faithful aren't sold on the potential of having Westbrook as their main guy. Still, bringing Westbrook to the East might be New York's best bet at the moment given that there isn't a ton of talent in their current roster.

Russ is one hell of a competitor and as proven before, he's capable of single-handedly bringing a team to the postseason. After Kevin Durant left OKC in 2016, Westbrook went absolute nuts and ended up with the league MVP award. He averaged a triple-double that campaign and would go on to do the same in the next two seasons, without another star in the mix.

Brodie might be the Knicks' way out right now.
