The New York Knicks are reportedly obsessed with hiring Masai Ujiri as their new president because they believe he can land Giannis Antetokounmpo when the reigning MVP can potentially become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2021.

One former NBA general manager, though, says it's going to take the Knicks a full “team” to sign Antetokounmpo:

“What's their new focus, 2021?” the former general manager asked, via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. “Their focus is coach, GM. … You need a team to get Giannis. Masai alone isn't going to get Giannis.”

The Knicks are going to have to throw a lot of money at Ujiri since he has a good thing going with the Toronto Raptors. Ujiri is said to have interest in rebuilding the Knicks, but it’s still unclear if he’s ready to leave Toronto for The Big Apple.

There are some around the league who believe the Knicks are targeting Jason Kidd to be their next head coach since the Hall of Famer has a strong relationship with Giannis. Kidd coached The Greek Freak in Milwaukee and there were a few reports which said Antetokounmpo was upset when the Bucks fired Kidd.

The Bucks can offer Antetokounmpo the supermax extension after this season ends. By all accounts, Giannis loves playing for Milwaukee and doesn’t have any interest in playing in a big market. He has said in the past he does not like big market cities like Los Angeles and New York.
