The New York Knicks got off to a slow start to their season, beginning the game 0-for-9 from the field but they quickly found their rhythm. The Knicks scored 49 points in the second quarter and that led the team to a 126-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

The 49 points scored during the second quarter was the third-highest total ever scored by the Knicks in a single quarter.

Tim Hardaway Jr. paced the Knicks putting up 22 points in the first half and finished the game with 31 points in total. The Knicks are shorthanded with Kristaps Porzingas still recovering from a torn ACL but other guys on the team are stepping up.

This was the first regular season game with David Fizdale in charge of the Knicks and he was tested earlier with his team getting off to such a slow start. He had to call a timeout a little less than four minutes into the game to try and get the team regrouped.

During the break, a fan hit a halfcourt shot to win $10,000 and at the point, it looked like maybe the Knicks needed to sign him to a contract.

The Knicks settled in and ruined the first career NBA game for Trae Young. Young finished the game with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

The leader in scoring for the Hawks was Taurean Price, who finished with 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists. The next game for the Knicks will be on Friday when they make the trip across town to take on the Brooklyn Nets.
