The New York Knicks are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and Tim Hardaway Jr. is right in the middle of it. They lost once again 108-92 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, and Hardaway was partly to blame.

After shooting 0-of-8 from the 3-point line versus the Sixers, the Knicks guard expressed his frustration over missing so many shots. ESPN’s Ian Begley posted Hardaway’s NSFW comments regarding his horrendous 3-point shooting.

“I wish I could make a f***ing shot. I am frustrated. Kind of in a slump right now. Just got to try to shoot my way out of it. Can’t harp on it. You can’t keep on letting it go. I mean, it’s too many games in a row now. I’ve got to figure it out.”

After averaging 16.7 points in January (16.4 for the season), Hardaway is scoring just 9.8 points through six games in February.

Against Philadelphia, Hardaway scored nine points on 4-of-16 shooting from the field overall including the eight misses on 3-pointers.

Hardaway Jr. can take solace in the fact that his father had a worse performance back in December of 1991. As a member of the Golden State Warriors, Tim Hardaway Sr. set the NBA’s futility record by shooting 0-of-17 from the field. That’s the most field goal attempts in a game without a make.

Despite this infamous game from the older Hardaway, the owner of the NBA’s killer crossover went on to have a storied career in the league. He became the second-fastest player in NBA history to record 5,000 points and 2,500 assists. Only Oscar Robertson reached those milestones faster. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for his dad.

There’s still more than enough games in the Knicks’ calendar for a bounce-back game from Hardaway Jr. And if it’s in his genes to miss plenty of shots in one game, it may also be in his DNA to play at a higher level in spite of a poor game.
