Power forward Henry Ellenson is reportedly planning to sign a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium on Tuesday night.

Henry Ellenson, 22, has spent the past three seasons with the Detroit Pistons since being the No. 18 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Formerly out of Marquette, he was a highly regarded prospect while in college among the likes of Philadelphia 76ers All-Star point guard Ben Simmons and Los Angeles Lakers' prized forward Brandon Ingram. Though the 6-foot-11 big man has had a rough go of things in Detroit, he could make for a canny addition for the Knicks with his solid size and his 32.3 career 3-point shooting percentage.

Prior to being released by the Pistons a couple of weeks ago, Ellenson appeared in just two games with the team this season. Detroit later added veteran shooting guard Wayne Ellington in an attempt to make some sort of a postseason push this year.

The Pistons are currently 26-30 and could possibly sneak into the sixth or seventh spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs if they're lucky.

New York recently watched forwards Kristaps Porzingis and Enes Kanter leave the team, while guard Wesley Matthews was waived and later joined the Indiana Pacers. John Jenkins was the Knicks' most recent 10-day player, but he will likely not stick around much with Ellenson soon joining the roster.

Henry Ellenson has averaged just 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in his career. He will hope to get himself going in New York, on a young but growing roster.
