Immanuel Quickley is rapidly becoming a fan favorite on the New York Knicks, and he got a chance to meet one of his idols on the court Sunday.

While taking on the Los Angeles Clippers, Quickley shared a cool moment with Lou Williams. The 21-year-old later responded to that moment captured by broadcasts, calling Williams the ā€œUnderground [GOAT].ā€

Quickley, who was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, only for the pick to be traded to the Knicks, apparently modeled his game after Williams, one of the best sixth men in NBA history. In the above video, Quickley can be seen telling the Clippers veteran that he's one of his favorite players.

While Quickley would love to carve out a long career like Williams, he is currently focused on earning a starting role with the Knicks this season.Ā In recent weeks, Quickley has been getting more run as a vital member off of New York's bench. Entering play Sunday, the rookie out of Kentucky had averages of 11.6 points and 2.5 assists while shooting an efficient 37.9 percent from behind the arc.

When it comes to Quickley, he's a pure scorer who is improving as a passer, which can be said for Williams earlier in his career. Given New York's long drought of disappointing point guards, there is hope that Quickley can become the next point man for the Knicks soon.

For the time being, Quickley will have to continue proving himself worthy of more minutes on Tom Thibodeau's squad. At the least, Quickley finally got an opportunity to share the court with one of the players he modeled his game after.
