For the second night in a row, the New York Knicks had a chance to tie it late against a top team on the road in the Eastern Conference. And for a second night in a row, they came up just short.

On Monday it was Julius Randle, who got called for a travel, and it ended a chance for the Knicks to tie it up against the Brooklyn Nets.

Last night it was rookie sensation Immanuel Quickley who had a look from straight on but couldn't quite cash it in against the Philadelphia 76ers. Quickley talked about the shot and the game afterwards.

The late first-round pick from Kentucky has become a fan favorite in New York and for good cause. His blend of three-point ability and ability to hang and cash in floaters in the paint is something the Knicks have long been looking for at the point guard spot.

And while the returns are early and the sample size is still relatively small, the Knicks have appeared to strike gold when they took Quickley late in the first round of the 2020 draft.

Quickley started his second game last night, in the absence of Elfrid Payton and Derrick Rose. He missed the entire second quarter while being checked out in the locker room for an apparent injury, but returned for the second half. Quickley finished with 13 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and also had three assists.

The Knicks fell short against the top team in the east, the 76ers, 99-96. The Knicks will look to bounce back Thursday when they welcome the Orlando Magic into Madison Square Garden.
