New York Knicks owner James Dolan is becoming more known for his musical talents than his actual ownership of professional sports teams these days, and this latest piece of news does nothing to dissuade that.

According to Ian O'Connor of ESPN, Dolan used to play his guitar on the Knicks' team plane, even after losses.

“It was the last thing the players and coaches wanted to hear,” says one regular on those flights. “I just remember the looks on their faces.”

Before you start conjuring up images of Dolan playing his guitar for the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Jason Kidd, there is some bad news here: Dolan completely denies ever doing such a thing, calling it “somebody's fantasy.”

On one hand, of course Dolan is going to deny that claim even if it were true. On the other hand, would you truly put something so unbelievably inappropriate past the guy who once apparently ripped an emailer by accusing him of being an alcoholic?

But let's forget the possibility that this story might be a fabrication, because then, it's less fun for all of us.

Dolan has been involved with the Knicks since the mid '90s, but it wasn't until 1999 where his role increased dramatically within the franchise. Perhaps not coincidentally, that was when New York's downturn really began.

The Knicks have made the playoffs just six times in the 2000s. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2000, but since then, they have made it out of the first round just once.

New York currently owns a record of 9-22. It has not made the postseason since 2013.
