New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek was so irate after their loss to the L.A. Clippers on Friday that he is actually thinking of changing the starting lineup with just about 20 games less in the season, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Knicks had a slim lead heading into halftime of that game before the Clippers blitzed them in the third quarter en route to a blowout win. Berman reports that the change could be inserting Michael Beasley into the starting lineup.

Hornacek re-emphasized that he thinks the Knicks showed absolutely no pride against the Clippers, and said the veterans on the team should be teaching his young players how to play the right way.

“Maybe some of the older guys, but we’re asking them to be the leaders for those young guys and show them how you play every game no matter what your record is,’’ Hornacek said. “You go out there and play for the pride. That was the disappointment [Friday] night. They accepted being scored on without doing anything to let it not happen. We’ll see [Sunday] if they responded.’’

Perhaps a lineup change could be what helps motivate the team as a whole for this stretch run of the season. But with Kristaps Porzingis going down with an ACL injury, it's somewhat understandable that the team is going through a bit of a lull.

However, these are professional athletes, and injuries are part of the game. If the Porzingis injury is affected the collective morale of the team, it's about time they get over that.

The other problem is the Knicks are just not that good. They are too young and just lost their anchor.

But true competitors rally around adversity and push through. Veterans usually lead younger players to this mentality, but it appears that is not happening for the Knicks right now.

The end of the season can't come soon enough for New York. Might as well play as hard as possible until that happens.
