With news that surfaced about Tim Hardaway Jr. playing through a sore foot, New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek fears the worst for his starting small forward. Hornacek shared recently that he thinks Hardaway could be suffering from a more serious injury

The 54-year-old made it known that he feels like Hardaway is dealing with plantar fasciitis, and not just a simple case of a sore foot, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley. He also added that even if he is not a doctor, he is seeing signs pointing to that condition.

Should Jeff Hornacek’s claim hold true, it will be a huge blow to the Knicks as a plantar fasciitis is always tricky to deal with. It needs to be rested in order to be fully healed, which they cannot afford at this point, since Hardaway is having a career year so far. He is averaging 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 34.0 minutes per game, which are all career-best numbers for him.

It can be expected that further testing will be done on the 25-year-old Michigan product’s foot, to find out its exact condition. If he’ll be forced to miss some games, Kristaps Porzingis would most likely take on more scoring load for the Knicks in Tim Hardaway Jr.’s absence.
