Derrick Rose has been out of action for months now following an injury to his right ankle. It was announced on Friday that the New York Knicks guard underwent yet another procedure, which made the rounds on social media but apparently did not reach Julius Randle.

The Knicks big man was candid in his reaction, learning about Derrick Rose's latest injury update in the postgame presser following their loss to the Miami Heat.

Julius Randle said he didn’t know about Derrick Rose’s ankle procedure until reporters asked him about it postgame.

“He’s gotta be healthy, man,” Randle said. “If anybody proved he can do it, it’s him, so definitely need to reach out to him, see how he’s doing.”

Derrick Rose has been the poster child for coming back strong from injury. He may no longer be the MVP that he once was, but his hard work to recover from his several instances on the shelf has led him back to a productive NBA career.

The good news is that the additional procedure doesn't seem to be anything too serious. According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, it was simply for a skin infection and Rose could still return in the next week or so.

Knicks guard Derrick Rose's minor procedure on his right ankle today addressed a skin infection in the area of his December surgery and there's optimism that Rose can return to the lineup in one-to-two weeks, sources tell ESPN.

While Derrick Rose has already gone past his original 8-week timetable starting from his surgery in late December, it's certainly welcome news that a return is still imminent.

This has certainly been a disappointing season for the Knicks after their spirited regular season run last year. Missing Derrick Rose has been a key part of that as they continue to try and climb back into the playoff picture.
