New York Knicks big man Julius Randle has not been getting the types of foul calls that he has seen other stars around the league get, and it is starting to get under his skin. A long-time issue with bigger players in the NBA such as NBA legends Shaquille O'Neal, Yao Ming, and current Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James. Now, it is happening with Randle, he says.

Randle is averaging around five free throw attempts per game, which is also his career average. It is, however, over one attempt less than he has been getting per game over the past couple of years, which is probably what Randle is griping about. If he is admittedly being more proactive in getting to the rim, it would only make sense that Randle's free throw attempts would increase in 2021 and not decrease.

The reason that Randle is not getting the calls…because he is too strong. It creates issues when getting the small amount of contact that would usually deter smaller offensive players and lead to a foul. When the same issue happens with Randle, he is strong enough that it does not look like he is impeded much by what is clearly a foul.

The simple solution for Randle is to add a little bit of flopping to his game and start to make it clear during the play that he was fouled. Aside from stopping the play and addressing the referee mid-dribble, the best thing Randle can do in this situation is to be a little more vocal or physically active when he feels he is fouled. All he has to do is watch tape on the aforementioned LeBron James, as he is the best in the league at letting it be known when he is fouled.
