Kemba Walker missed his third straight game Tuesday due to a knee injury, but at least the New York Knicks got some positive news out of it.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, there is nothing structurally wrong with Walker's knee, which means he wouldn't need any kind of surgery. While that doesn't mean he'll return soon since he needs time to rest, that also suggests he won't be out for long.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau also confirmed the development recently, noting that the injury was just “general soreness.”

“Yeah, it came back positive, so just general soreness,” Thibodeau said of Walker's knee exams. “So, it’ll be day-to-day. We want everything to calm down with him.”

It remains to be seen when Kemba Walker will be able to return, but the Knicks certainly can't rush him now to avoid a more significant injury.

The Knicks have lost in the last two games they played without Walker. Prior to that, they went 4-2 since Coach Thibs decided to bring back the scoring guard from his exile amid their COVID-19 debacle.

Walker is averaging 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game this 2021-22. While his defense leaves much to be desired, it has been quite clear that he can impact the Knicks on other ways and help them win.

Hopefully, he returns sooner rather than later.
