New York Knicks rookie forward Kevin Knox has announced that he is ready to drag his team back to relevancy.
The ninth pick in the 2018 draft out of Kentucky impressed everyone with his Summer League performance, averaging 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and one steal per game on 35 percent shooting. These striking numbers led him to be named to the All-NBA Summer League First Team.
In the Summer League, Knox looked aggressive and confident, taking on any defender and making the right decision more often than not on the drive. He will look to continue this aggressiveness when the regular season rolls around, per Steve Popper of Newsday.
“I’m going to go into the season with the mindset that I’m going to attack every person that’s guarding me. Every game I’m going to be able to attack the other team. People questioned that last year, but I think I’m a different person, got a different mentality this year. I know the Knicks, we’re going to definitely make some noise this year so I’m really looking forward to this season.”
Knicks fans must be excited to hear their first-round pick have so much confidence. A determined Knox could become a great second scoring option after Kristaps Porzingis, something that the Knicks need desperately.
If Knox can repeat his performance for the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, it is not ridiculous to see them grabbing a bottom tier playoff seed.
All eyes will be on the rookie in just over a month from now when the Atlanta Hawks and another intriguing rookie in Trae Young come into town to start the season.
