New York Knicks rookie Kevin Knox is happy that something is going his way this off-season. LeBron James, who recently signed a four-year deal to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, has finally left the East, resulting in an even larger talent gap between the two conferences. James’ departure, who also led the Cleveland Cavaliers to four straight conference titles, and nine straight, for himself, has left the East wide open for the next champion.

This phenomenon has caused a lot of teams — namely the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors, to stock up on talent in preparation for a deep playoff run.

Knox, who will be entering his first season in the NBA, is looking forward to not having to face him four times per year, per ESPN's Chris Forsberg.

For me, I was like, “Yeah, get out of the East!” It was cool, though. L.A. is going to be fun again. You got a lot of young guys out there — LeBron's going to help them out, get to the playoffs. What a great city for him to go to, but I'm glad he's out of the East.

While the Knicks aren’t yet viewed as a championship contender, winning a few extra games will do a lot for their confidence.

They’ve also added young talent in Knox and Mitchell Robinson to a core of Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Frank Ntilikina, in hopes of making a hard push for the playoffs.

This season is going to be an uphill climb for New York as they are facing a few issues in their franchise, but at least they now have a fighting chance.
