The New York Knicks have finally moved on from All-Star Carmelo Anthony after moving him to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday morning.

This has officially shifted the entire focus of the franchise over to building around rising star forward Kristaps Porzingis, who recently voiced to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News that he's ready for next chapter of his career.

“Honestly, I would love for this year to be a new start. All I'm looking for is a fresh start and not to talk about that anymore.”

It marks the first time that Porzingis will be the primary factor offensively with everything running through him on that end of the floor. In his first two seasons, the 22-year-old has shown much promise to develop into a superstar talent in the league and now has the chance to become the face of the franchise for the Knicks.

Anthony and Porzingis had developed a strong bond over the last couple of seasons with the fourth overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft calling the 10-time All-Star one of his biggest influences and mentors.

“Carmelo was a mentor to me,” Porzingis said. “He was a big brother from day one. I texted him to tell him I appreciated that I was able to learn from him. Having him around was important for me. I respect him a lot. I also told him that if he doesn't bring his Rolls Royce with him, I'll take care of it.”

Meanwhile, Anthony heads off to a prime opportunity to potentially compete for an NBA title alongside reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook and All-Star forward Paul George. The Thunder now possess three proven scorers that could quickly become the biggest challenge to dethrone the Golden State Warriors.
