About three minutes into the third quarter of the New York Knicks' 89-103 home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, All-Star big man Kristaps Porzingis cut to the basket, received a pass from teammate Kyle O'Quinn, dunked the basketball over Giannis Antetokounmpo and injured his left knee as he fell to the ground. Porzingis needed help to stand up and limped his way to the locker room. You can see a clip of the moment the injury happened here:

With the Knicks apparently still pushing for a playoff run, the situation has gotten much harder for the team. And to make matters worse, there is still uncertainty on Porzingis' return timetable. According to Ian Begley from ESPN, Knicks general manager Scott Perry said Porzingis' surgery will occur soon enough but there is still no date or an established period of time before he comes back.

It was definitely not New York's night yesterday. Later on, just one quarter after Porzingis left the game, Tim Hardaway Jr. suffered a left shin injury after an inadvertent kick by Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to a report by NBA.com. Hardaway had already missed 20 games earlier this season with an injury in the same leg. Things do not look good at all for the Knicks' playoff chances, as they will be without their two leading scorers as long as they take to recover.

Begley added: “Knicks GM Scott Perry said this is an emotional time for Kristaps Porzingis but called him a ‘tough kid' and added that the organization is fully confident that he’ll make a full recovery.” Perry declined to comment when asked whether this injury impacts the organization's approach to Porzingis' rookie extension coming this summer.
