New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis seems to respect what Carmelo Anthony did in New York.

Anthony will make his return to New York on Saturday when the Oklahoma City Thunder are in town to play the Knicks. It will be Anthony's first time in New York since asking for a trade from the franchise over the summer.

Porzingis was Anthony's teammate. He saw firsthand all the things that happened during the final years of Anthony's tenure there.

In light of that, when asked how he felt about Anthony coming back to New York for the first time since last season, Porzingis defended Anthony said there's no reason he should get an overly negative reception, per NBA on ESPN's Twitter account.

Anthony had a tumulus last few years in New York, with former president of basketball operations Phil Jackson trying to send messages through the media that the Knicks would be better off if Anthony wasn't on the team anymore.

But Anthony stayed vigilant and stayed, constantly repeating the message that he was just going to keep showing up to work regardless of what Jackson said. That apparently garnered some respect from his former teammate.

Crazy things usually happen at Madison Square Garden. With Anthony making his return there on Saturday, it would be par for the course of Anthony went off for a big night.
