The New York Knicks will interview Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Brown for their head coaching spot, per Marc Stein of the New York Times and Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Kidd played for the Knicks during his Hall of Fame career, while Brown is a former Coach of the Year winner with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Per Steve Popper of the Newsday, some inside the Knicks organization believe Kidd can help New York land Milwaukee Bucks superstar small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021. The 2019 MVP had a very close relationship with Kidd in Milwaukee.

Giannis can become an unrestricted free agent in 2021 if he doesn't sign the supermax extension with the Bucks this offseason.

The Knicks fired David Fizdale after 22 games this season and replaced him with interim Mike Miller. New York went 17-27 under Miller and there are some higher-ups at MSG who would like to see him back with the franchise, even if he doesn't get the head coaching gig.

Over the past few years, the Knicks have become a walking disaster. The team hasn't had a winning record or made the playoffs since 2012-13. The franchise thought it was going to get Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last offseason, only to see the two superstars sign with the other team in New York, the Brooklyn Nets.

Many around the league believe the Knicks will never be successful again until James Dolan sells the team. We'll see who Dolan and Co. end up hiring as the next head coach.
