The New York Knicks were able to make a splash with the selection of Duke forward RJ Barrett. Now, it appears forward Lance Thomas already has high expectations for the rookie.

Although it is still early on the offseason, Barrett will be expected to make an immediate impact in New York. According to Ian Begley of SNY, Thomas is already impressed with the rookie's skill set.

“He's a force. He can get to that cup whenever he wants and he finishes above the rim,” Thomas said. “He finishes with a good floater, strong kid.”

“I think he's going to be good.”

It is encouraging to see that Barrett has already earned some praise from his new teammate. Of course, it should hardly come as any surprise considering Thomas is a former Duke product himself. He could very well be looking out for his fellow Blue Devil.

Despite any obligation that may exist, there is no question that the Barrett is considered to be one of the most talented players in the draft.

Barrett had largely been overshadowed by the presence of forward Zion Williamson in college. That will likely continue to be the case after Williamson was taken as the clear-cut No. 1 pick by the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Knicks are not done on making big moves this offseason. They are reportedly in the hunt for a superstar of their own this summer. Regardless, it is safe to assume that Barrett will remain an integral part of their rebuild moving forward.
