The New York Knicks plan to sign Kevin Durant this summer might've taken a hit after the All-Star forward suffered a ruptured Achilles that will likely sideline him for the entire 2019-20 season. Some experts suggest that the team should not offer KD the max deal considering the fact that he won't be able to play for them for at least a year, but then there are also those who are suggesting that the Knicks should offer him every bit of money that they could to show that they are invested in him the same way that they were before his injury.

An Eastern Conference executive sides with the latter, as the person told Ken Berger of Bleacher Report that the Knicks are already one of the teams who are too invested in KD. Their desire to be relevant will be one of the major reasons why they will still offer him the max money this summer.

“The teams that are interested would still be desperate enough and take their chances. Take a team like New York. They've had so much misery, I think that they would do it either way.”

The Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the league for almost half a decade now, and they were hoping to bring in a healthy KD along with another All-Star this summer. They will definitely consider their options, especially knowing that no one really gets back 100 percent from an Achilles injury, but do not be surprised if they still decide to give Durant everything that they can offer.

After all, having three great years of KD is better than having none at all.
