The New York Knicks will officially hire and introduce former NBA agent Leon Rose as their new president after the All-Star break.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Rose is tying up loose ends at CAA before taking the Knicks job:

Leon Rose, the former super agent for Creative Artist Agency, won’t be introduced as the Knicks president until after the All-Star break.

According to multiple sources, decertifying as an agent with the Players Association is just an excuse for the delay. That procedure only takes a day.

According to sources, the real issue is tying up loose ends at Creative Artist Agency and finding new agents for his many clients, preferably with CAA.

Another factor, according to sources, is the matter of settling up all the financial compensation he is due from the complicated network of CAA.

Knicks owner James Dolan began exploring the front-office model of hiring a player agent shortly after firing Steve Mills. The Golden State Warriors under Bob Myers and the Los Angeles Lakers under Rob Pelinka have had success with the former agent model.

The Knicks’ roster is pretty flawed right now, so Rose’s main priority moving forward is to hire the right coach to lead the franchise. He reportedly will have Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau on his coaching search list.

The Knicks will likely miss the playoffs again this year, for the seventh straight season, although they're only six games out of the Eastern Conference's eighth seed.
