New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball says his younger brother, LaMelo Ball, would be a good fit for the New York Knicks if the franchise drafts him in the 2020 draft.

LaMelo’s NBA draft stock is steadily rising and there are some who believe he can be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft. Lonzo went No. 2 to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017.

The Knicks are on pace to have one of the worst records in the NBA again, so they could wind up with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft:

“Wherever he lands, he’s gonna help out a lot. Anybody could use him,” Lonzo Ball told Marc Berman of The New York Post.

When asked if LaMelo, a 6-foot-7 point guard currently playing professionally in Australia, would be an ideal fit with the Knicks having a need at this position, Lonzo Ball replied, “For sure.”

“Whoever has the No. 1 pick, I feel like that’s who’s gonna get him,” Lonzo said. “He’s been in the spotlight since he was 15, plus I went through everything he’s gonna go through. So he always has me to fall back on.

“But what he did overseas, what he did in high school, I think it’s a fair choice [as the No. 1-overall pick], honestly. He’s been killing grown men in Australia, which is a very good league. So I expect the same thing here. It’s different for everybody Hopefully, it happens from the first game. That’s what I’d love to see.”

The hype around LaMelo Bell keeps growing seemingly every day. In a high school game back in 2017, LaMelo scored a whopping 92 points, including 41 in the fourth quarter.

Now that he’s taller and stronger, NBA scouts believe LaMelo can succeed at the NBA level, though he remains turnover prone. LaMelo can hit 3s in bunches due to his quick release, though he’s a very streak shooter.

Like Lonzo, LaMelo is a gifted passer as well, with one scout even likening the youngest Ball brother to Luka Doncic.

The Knicks missed out on Zion Williamson despite having the worst record in the NBA last season. We'll see what draft position New York gets this time around.
