The New York Knicks are trending online, but not for a reason fans would have wanted. On Wednesday night's game in Madison Square Garden, an altercation broke out between Knicks guard Elfrid Payton and Grizzlies forward Jae Crowder. Payton got a shot in after the Grizzlies player attempted a corner three with the game practically decided in less than a minute left.

Soon after, Payton's teammate Marcus Morris went under fire after his post-game comments to reporters, calling Crowder “soft” and “woman-like.” After getting backlash for his “sexist” and “misogynistic” words, the veteran forward took to Twitter to apologize for his comments, saying they a “heat of the moment response,” and that he never intended to disrespect any woman. He also reiterated that he has the “upmost respect for women.”

Crowder had recently reacted to Morris' comments online as well, tweeting, “THIS IS WHAT 5-17 LOOKS LIKE.!!” with the Grizzlies forward referring to the Knicks forward's field goal performance that game. Despite the subpar performance from Morris, he has actually been one of the only bright spots in New York's season as arguably their best player, averaging 19.3 points and 5.5 rebounds.

All of Wednesday night's drama seem to unfortunately be the most action Knicks fans are witnessing this season, having once again another losing league record at a second-worst 13-36, only ahead of the 12-36 Hawks.

Players involved in the scuffle might be facing suspensions, possibly resulting to a short-handed Knicks on their next game. They will get another chance to claw for a win as they visit the 13-35 Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night.
