On Wednesday, New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter sat alone on the end of the bench during a fourth-quarter timeout. He was sulking and wasn't involved in the game in the slightest. Mario Hezonja, who was also benched on and not in the game, came over to Kanter. He put an arm around Kanter and encouraged him to join part of the game, per Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.

“Get the fuck up. And cheer.

Even though Kanter wasn't playing in the game, he should still be involved with the game off the bench. That shows leadership.

Enes Kanter has had a rough year. From his benching to the country of Turkey attempting to extradite him for alleged crimes of treason and slander, the Knicks big man has been through a lot.

His head coach in David Fizdale has been positive when talking about Kanter. However, his lack of consistency defensively and fit on the team isn't working.

The team is attempting to tank and get a top draft pick, and Enes Kanter just doesn't work with the Knicks' attempt to give their young talents more minutes. He's on the trading block and will likely be dealt in the coming weeks.

Kanter told The Athletic:

“I want to play basketball. If you’re going to play me here, play me. Or if not, then just get me out of here.My job right now is to cheer for my teammates and try to be a good teammate. But what they’re doing to me is pretty messed up. I deserve way better.”

The Knicks are now 10-36 on the season and they sit 14th in the NBA's Eastern Conference. They will face off next against the Brooklyn Nets at home.
