NBA champion forward Metta World Peace, also known previously as Ron Artest, is putting himself on the spot for the New York Knicks' vacant head-coaching job.

The Knicks axed David Fizdale in just his second season with the Big Apple franchise following a 4-18 record. World Peace, who briefly played with the ‘Bockers during the 2013-14 season and is from New York City, shared his thoughts on Twitter following the news of Fizdale's dismissal.

World Peace was a one-time All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year during his 17-year NBA tenure, which included six years with the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2017.

The ex-Laker also tweeted “good job” to Fizdale and “good luck” to the next head coach of the Knicks. In the same tweet, the 40-year-old emphasized that coaching New York is “one of the best jobs” in sports.

In a following message on social media, he called himself a “straight shooter” in his potential approach to fans and media as coach.

The Knicks had hired Fizdale in the spring of 2018 after a similar demise with the Memphis Grizzlies the previous year. Before that, the California native was a longtime assistant for Erik Spoelstra's Miami Heat coaching staff, winning two championships with the organization while LeBron James made his four-season residency in South Beach.
