After it was reported over the weekend that the New York Knicks had already contacted both Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson about the vacant head coaching position, one person added himself as a dark horse to that list of potential candidates: none other than former Knicks forward Metta World Peace.

World Peace, who is currently a player development coach in the G League with the South Bay Lakers, threw his name into the Knicks' head coaching mix on Saturday with a tweet expressing interest in the gig.

This is definitely something that would be tweeted by one of the NBA's most colorful personalities in league history, but some of the response thread to his tweet are pretty hilarious and worth scrolling through, as well.

The former All-Star forward, who played in the NBA from 1999 until 2017, had a very underwhelming 2013-14 season in what turned out to be his only year with the Knicks.

If World Peace somehow actually managed to land the Knicks head coaching job, it would likely a dream come true for the Queens native.

“As a kid, New York was in my blood, and that was it. I got a chance to play for the Knicks, so it was cool, but it was towards the end of my career,” World Peace said back in 2016 during an interview with Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders. “It wasn’t when I was the best defender and everything. But that was my goal, man: to bring a championship to New York City. It just didn’t work out that way.”

Best of luck wherever your future may take you, Metta.
