New additions Jarrett Jack and Michael Beasley were introduced to the New York media after their recent signings with the Knicks, and the latter couldn't be me any more entertaining.

After expressing his consideration for Carmelo Anthony as a mentor in the locker room, the longtime veteran doubled down, claiming his stay in the Big Apple will be a pleasant one for all involved.

“I still think I have a chance to be one of the best in the NBA. I'm your favorite player's favorite player. And it's not enough for me for him to know that. I want the world to know that,” Beasley said after telling the media he wants to play another 15 years, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. “So I'm still working hard as if I can be the best ever. If you doubt it, if you don't believe it, it will just make my story that much better.”

Beasley has seen a steep dive from stardom after his first two years in Miami and the next two in Minnesota, bouncing to four different teams in the past five seasons, including a less-glamorous return to the Heat.

The 28-year-old lefty expressed his desire to play consistent minutes, explaining that his per-36-minute totals are up there with some of the best in the league.

“I just want an opportunity to play basketball,” said Beasley. “I just want the respect I deserve. Not for what I can do in the future but what I've done in the past. And I just want a fair opportunity, a fair chance, a fair shot to play basketball.”

The Knicks have needed a dynamic wing off the bench and Beasley's ability to play both forward positions and his uncanny talent for scoring the ball will be a definite asset for coach Jeff Hornacek going forward.
