The New York Knicks are in the middle of a very rough stretch, partly because their star Kristaps Porzingis suffered a season-ended ACL injury recently. But beyond that, Michael Beasley thinks the team has other problems that they themselves can actually fix.

After a bad loss to the L.A. Clippers on Friday night, Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek was reportedly irate at the entire team for playing poor defense. When Beasley was asked about it, he snapped, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

“How many assists did we have tonight?’’ Beasley snapped when a question was posed about Hornacek’s anger over their defensive tenacity. “It’s a lot of things. A lot.”

Beasley's upset about the assist had some to do with not being able to get into an offensive rhythm, he told Berman. When he played in China a couple of years ago, he was known as a passer. That may have something to do with his frustration.

“I can’t be the only one trying to figuring it out,” Beasley said about sharing the ball. “We got to figure it out together. We just don’t play the right way of basketball at times. And that’s frustrating.”

The Knicks are 1-9 in their last 10 games and headed for a free fall in the standings. The good news is they own their 2018 pick, so in a way, them losing is better for the franchise if they could get high enough in the lottery.

But right now, there are a lot of things weighing down the franchise, not the least of which is losing Porzingis. Beasley is doing his best to help, but it may already be too late.
