The injury bug claimed another victim on Friday, as Mitchell Robinson was scratched off for the rest of the New York Knicks and Washington Wizards' showdown at Capital One Arena. The Knicks' social media team confirmed that the 22-year-old center will not return after suffering a right-hand injury.

It's a shame considering the Knicks' 7-foot slotman was having a fine game before his injury, recording a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action. He went 5-for-6 from the field in the first half. Robinson was having his way early against the helpless Wizards frontline.

Mitchell Robinson was in visible pain near the end of the second quarter, as he was seen shaking his hand before going to the bench.
After subtly hinting that he wants to have more minutes under new Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, Robinson has been playing significantly better in New York's last few outings. He was notching 8.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 26 games prior to Friday's match. It remains unclear how long Robinson will be out of commission, but fractures do tend to keep players out for weeks.
This will be a huge blow for the defensive-minded Knicks, considering they'll be without their best rim protector for the time being. New York is currently just a game behind the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference standings. Knicks fans are certainly keeping their fingers crossed that their starting center will be back healthy soon.
