New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson isn't known as a long-range threat, but on Friday he promised that he has the 3-shot in his “bag.”

The 21-year-old center has been an excellent rim-running seven-footer with a long wingspan to collect alley-oops and slam them home, but fans haven't exactly seen the Chalmette, Louisiana product take jump shots.

Robinson also vowed to take more long-range bombers next year, even saying that the 3-point line isn't that far for him.

“Next year I'm shooting 3's,” Robinson declared to the media, via Knicks Nation. “I can shoot them, I shot them in high school. They ain't that much farther.”

Robinson arrived in the NBA as a second-round selection by the Knicks in 2018. Taken with the 36th overall pick, Robinson decided to leave Western Kentucky University before the season began and dedicated roughly 10 months to training for the draft. That decision paid off with his selection, but some people believed he could have been a first-round selection with his unique talent if he spent a year in the NCAA.

In his rookie season, Robinson averaged 7.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 20.6 minutes per game, appearing in 66 contests and starting in 19 of them. He also shot 69.4 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the free throw line, helping him earn a spot on the All-Rookie second team.

Robinson is still dealing with a tendency to foul, but he projects to be a very talented defender with a penchant for precise shot blocking on defense. On offense, he can be utilized as a roll man in screens, slipping to the hoop for lob opportunities.

It seems blocking will be Mitchell “Lobinson”s bread and butter, but he promises the jumper will come.
