The New York Knicks fanbase has long been known to be a fickle crowd. Madison Square Garden isn't hesitant to jeer their home team if they feel they are underperforming. It's been a trend that has followed the team since it's early days.

Against the New Orleans Pelicans, the harsh NY crowd reared its head again. As the home team was being blown out of the water, Knicks fans in MSG proceeded to boo the team. After the game, Pels guard Josh Hart had a hilarious reaction to this development. (via Will Guillory)

As stated earlier, Knicks fans have this “tough love” attitude towards their team. The fans feel like this team is better than their current performance, and they aren't hesitant to show their true feelings. New York making the postseason last season only serves to make their current performance all the more disappointing.

Sadly, this isn't the first time these fans have booed this team. Prior to the Pelicans game, Knicks fans relentlessly booed the team against the Boston Celtics. This didn't sit well with Julius Randle, who proceeded to give a thumbs-down gesture to the crowd. They were able to make a comeback in that game, but they weren't able to channel that same energy in this game.

After a surprise playoff appearance last season, the Knicks seem to have regressed back to their old form. Whether they can come back and rekindle their fire or not depends on how they react to tough losses like this one. Based on the current results… well, NY fans are in for a rough ride.
