The New York Knicks reportedly have trade interest in Gordon Hayward if the Boston Celtics decide to move him, per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

Hayward has a player option for the 2020-21 season worth $34,187,085. There have been rumors going around that the former Utah Jazz All-Star could decline it and enter unrestricted free agency, though that would shock a lot of people due to the uncertain economy because of COVID-19.

If the Celtics–who have been linked to New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday–make it known that Hayward is available via trade and want to work out a sign-and-trade deal, the Knicks could enter the picture.

Gordon Hayward averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Celtics in 2019-20. He shot 50.0 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Knicks, who haven't made the playoffs since 2013, have the eighth overall pick in the 2020 draft. The franchise has also been linked to Houston Rockets star point guard Russell Westbrook, who has requested a trade from Clutch City.

Are the Knicks trying to get Westbrook and Hayward and pair them with RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson in Tom Thibodeau's first year as head coach? It's possible since Thibs hates rebuilding and trusts veteran and proven players over younger guys.

It's going to be fun to see what the Knicks decide to do with their draft pick and if Leon Rose makes any bold trades.
