New York Knicks general manager Leon Rose already has his eyes on a possible deputy, as he will reportedly sign former Cleveland Cavaliers executive Brock Aller to an important role within the organization.

Per SNY.com, Rose is looking to tap Aller as his right-hand man in a bid to rescue the Knicks from years of dysfunction. Although his exact designation remains unclear, Aller is expected to take up a high-ranking position for the Knickerbockers.

“Brock is someone Leon is going to lean on,” one unidentified league source described Rose and Aller's impending relationship.

Aller, known as an expert capologist, was Cleveland's senior director of basketball operations for many years. He is also a close confidant to team owner Dan Gilbert. Per Cleveland.com in 2017, Gilbert described Aller as someone who “knows more about the cap than probably PricewaterhouseCoopers knows about the IRS code”.

“He comes up with ideas on things that the league has never heard of, they have to go into their committees to check if it's OK or not. He's sort of a savant with this. He's a space-creator, the kind of space that (Cavs GM Koby Altman) will need in the cap. He was involved in probably every trade the last few years in a creative sense,” Gilbert said about the incoming Knicks exec.

Aller also played a huge role behind the scenes in the Cavs' first and only NBA title in 2016. Interestingly enough, Aller was also the proponent of the team's acquisition of JR Smith and Iman Shumpert from New York in 2015.

This development, meanwhile, marks as Leon Rose's first big move since taking the Knicks front office gig last March. He previously worked as a renowned sports agent for Creative Artists Agency (CAA), representing the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Devin Booker and Chris Paul to name a few.
