When it comes to the NBA, there are a few NBA teams that easily come to one's mind. One might think of the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, or New York Knicks.

Generally speaking, the number of NBA championships won or the locations of certain teams tend to affect the value of NBA teams. For example, the Boston Celtics have won 17 NBA championships, the most in NBA history; the New York Knicks are located in prime New York City, New York. One may wonder what the most valuable NBA team at present.

Recently, Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes reported that the New York is the most valuable NBA team at present. This value is estimated at $3.6 billion.

“New York is also home to the most valuable basketball team with the New York Knicks ($3.6 billion) ranked seventh overall and leading eight NBA teams in the top 50.”

This is despite the fact that the Knicks haven't won much playoff games in the 2000s because the arena in which the team plays in, the Madison Square Garden, rakes in a lot of money. The Madison Square Garden is considered as the prime sports arena in all of New York.

“The Knicks have one playoff series win over the last 18 years but are reaping the rewards of a $1 billion renovation to Madison Square Garden, which produced new revenue opportunities. Suite rental prices can run more than $1 million annually at MSG.”

It is clear that the New York is the most valuable NBA team at present. The future looks bright for the Knicks as they  have great players in Kristaps Porzingis and Kevin Knox. The value of the Knicks is sure to go up with their potential superstar players.
