The New York Knicks made waves during the 2022 NBA Draft for all the wrong reasons. And it was confusing to say the least. The Knicks originally acquired the draft rights to Jalen Duren out of Memphis. However, Duren was then flipped to Detroit along with Kemba Walker. They also dealt No. 11 overall pick Ousmane Deing to the Oklahoma City Thunder for three future first round picks.

To summarize, the Knicks continuous state of retooling and rebuilding was in full effect on NBA Draft night.

New York made an announcement following the draft which will upset the fan base without question. The announcement came via Knicks beat writer Fred Katz.

The Knicks say they will not hold any news conference following tonight’s draft or tomorrow. Leon Rose has not spoken on the record since before the 2021-22 season.

The reasoning for the Knicks refusal to hold a press conference is unclear.

It is believed that the team is attempting to clear cap space to sign free agent Jalen Brunson. Brunson would make for a quality addition given the team's need for a point guard. There are also swirling rumors about interest in Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant. But acquiring either of the Nets' stars seems unlikely.

There may be pandemonium amongst Knicks nation if the team can't sign Brunson at the very least.

Despite their presumed strategy, one would figure that the Knicks brass owes the fan base an explanation. This is an organization that has labored for years now and fans are growing impatient. Just ask Stephen A. Smith.

The Knicks are going to be a very interesting team to follow in free agency this offseason.
