New York Knicks rookie big man Mitchell Robinson has been sidelined since Dec. 16 with an ankle injury. To make matters worse, Robinson also injured his groin while rehabbing his ankle issue.

However, Mitchell may be close to a return.

While nothing is definite yet, Chris Iseman of NorthJersey.com says that Robinson could make his return on Thursday when the Knicks travel to London to take on the Washington Wizards.

This is not the first time that Robinson has dealt with ankle problems this season, as he also sprained his ankle during the season opener and ended up missing two of the next three games.

When Robinson has been on the floor this year, he has been effective, as he is averaging 4.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over 17.2 minutes per game while shooting 64 percent from the floor and 53.1 percent from the free-throw line.

He even had an incredibly impressive nine-block performance against the Orlando Magic back in November.

Robinson's journey to the NBA was certainly an interesting one.

The 20-year-old had originally committed to play basketball at Western Kentucky in 2017 before being suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Instead of transferring, Robinson then announced he would be foregoing college basketball to enter the NBA Draft.

The Knicks then proceeded to select him in the second round (36th pick overall) of the NBA Draft this past summer.

New York currently owns a record of 10-32 and has lost 15 of its last 17 games. It will take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday before making the trip to London.
