Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant will become a free agent this summer once he declines his player option for the 2019-20 season, and he is reportedly interested in joining the New York Knicks.

Or that is what everybody thought.

In a 2017 video which has since went viral, the reigning Finals MVP shouted that he will “never” join New York.

It has been two years since the video was taken, so his mind might have changed by now. However, it's still funny and makes for an interesting conversation.

Kevin Durant is known to make statements he'll later break either by accident or on purpose. Remember when he said back in 2012 that every player seems to want to join the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat? Well, both squads were considered superteams back then.

Three years later, he joined the superteam of the Golden State Warriors who are fresh from a 73-9 season.

How about when Durant said he had no hard feelings towards anyone when he chose to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder? Then a few days later, he was caught bashing his former team's front office on Twitter — in a move in which people believe he failed to switch to his burner account.

This could be another one of those incidents.

The Knicks reportedly have freed enough cap space to sign two max players this summer. Aside from Kevin Durant, the team also expects to go after Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.

However, unless the dotted line is signed by both players, these are all pure speculations.

Right now, Kevin Durant is focused on helping the Warriors win their third straight title, and the outcome of the season could have a major impact in his decision this summer.
