Nerlens Noel of the New York Knicks has been making headlines this offseason as he boldly goes head-to-head with NBA power broker Rich Paul.

Noel has accused Rich Paul of mismanagement as the Knicks big man was a client under Paul's Klutch Sports, the same group that handles LeBron James and several other prominent stars across the league.

Now in a response against Nerlens Noel, Rich Paul's lawyers have made a formal motion to dismiss against the Knicks center, dubbing his accusations as a mere “publicity stunt”.

Rich Paul's attorneys responded to Nerlens Noel's lawsuit today in a motion to dismiss: “Noel’s irresponsible actions have no legitimate purpose, and are presumably a publicity stunt and/or designed to burden and inconvenience Paul and (Klutch Sports Group).”

Nerlens Noel claims that he incurred losses amounting to $58 million in guaranteed salary due to allegedly misguided advice coming from Rich Paul. Klutch Sports ended up successfully poaching the Knicks big man from his longtime agent Happy Walters. But instead of garnering a bigger deal after the move, Noel ended up settling for a $4.1 million qualifying offer.

Clearly, Paul's camp doesn't see it that way, with their side adamant that the misfortunes that Noel endured were that of his own doing.

Noel eventually resuscitated his value with a successful stint on the New York Knicks last season, parlaying it into a three-year $32 million deal. But that hasn't made him forget about feeling slighted by Paul and Klutch Sports.

The two sides seem fully intent on letting this ordeal go through the courts. How this legal battle gets decided could provide a precedent that may change the player-agent dynamic in the NBA going forward.
