The New York Knicks have already decided on the future of their young backup guard, as they recently re-signed Ron Baker to bring him back this coming season. Terms of the new deal were not disclosed per team policy.

After going undrafted last year, the 24-year-old Wichita State product made the most of his stint with the Knicks Summer League squad, where he impressed scouts before receiving a two-way deal from them.

He appeared in 52 games for the team, and averaged 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16.5 minutes. He also saw some action with their D-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, where he gained more experience and received extended playing time.

The Knicks may have already added Frank Ntilikina and Tim Hardaway Jr. to their fold this summer, but retaining Baker’s services will add more depth to their backcourt rotation. At 6-foot-4, he has the ability to play both guard positions, and can also help stretch the floor with his outside shooting.

He is once again expected to come off the bench for the team, and provide them with a lot of energy and hustle, just like what he did last season night in and night out.
