New York Knicks general manager Scott Perry recently approached the Atlanta Hawks to gauge whether the team was interested in acquiring Knicks point guard Frank Ntilikina, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

The Hawks, who have rookie point guard Trae Young and veteran guard Jeremy Lin on the team, weren't interested.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Perry, who took the job after Ntilikina was drafted, recently approached the Atlanta Hawks to gauge whether the team was interested in dealing for the guard (Hawks have Trae Young and weren’t interested).

Frank Ntilikina's first two years in the NBA have been a disappointment, and it looks like the Knicks are ready to give up on him. The 20-year-old is a solid defender, but he's very limited in what he can do on the offensive end.

In 37 games for New York this season, Ntilikina is averaging 6.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 34.4 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from beyond the arc and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.

The most points Ntilikina has scored in an NBA game is 18. He's only done it one time. There was a three-game stretch in December where Ntilikina was out of the playing rotation. It's looking like New York made a mistake by taking the guard with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
