New York Knicks general manager Scott Perry could be primed for quite a busy offseason. With the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery right around the corner, the struggling Knicks don't appear to be looking too far ahead to free agency just yet.

Even so, with the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler and several other noteworthy players currently slated to test the open market, more than one of these superstars could ultimately end up in the “Big Apple” leading to a ton of hype surrounding the Knicks.

“We're going to play the hand we're dealt,” Perry told SNY's Ian Begley on Monday. “Sometimes in free agency, guys may decide to stay where they're at. Whatever happens, we know we're going to add some talent to the roster this summer. And we think we'll have a better basketball team next year. How much better obviously will depend on the level of free agent that we're able to attract and how much we've improved internally with our young players from this past season.”

However, Perry did acknowledge that his team plans to become very active this offseason in order to add some talented players to the mix in New York. While just about every major free agent has already been linked to the Knicks, it remains to be seen as to whether or not they can actually land one or more come this summer.

“We're looking to add some talented players that fit into our culture, guys who are committed to building a championship contender in New York,” Perry added, via SNY. “Competitive guys who understand what it takes to win at this level. We have a good young core of players but we feel that we're going to need to add some veteran players who have been through the wars if you will, who understand the winning, like we talked about.”

The Knicks notably finished the 2018-19 regular season with the worst record in the NBA and are now hopeful to earn the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
