It’s only 25 games into the 2017-18 NBA season, but New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis has already had to deal with a number of different ailments. From his elbow to his back to his ankle, there always seems to be something that's hurting. To his credit, he has not yet missed significant time, in part due to his “lizard”-like powers of recovery.

The New York Post’s Marc Berman asked Knicks general manager Scott Perry about his star’s durability, and he focused more on Porzingis’ ability to bounce back from said injuries.

“With the success he has, there’s going to be some failures, too, and how he responds to that adversity ultimately will determine how impactful he’ll be down the line. He bounces back pretty quick. If he has a setback, a tough game, an injured ankle or elbow, he has the drive to get back and compete.”

While Perry artfully dodged the true purpose of the question, it should be somewhat concerning for the Knicks that their franchise star remains perpetually beat up. This was also a bit of an issue with Porzingis in his first two years in the league, when he missed 26 total games.

Porzingis’ constant niggling injuries might just be a product of his lean 7-foot-3 frame. If so, Perry and the Knicks will have to do their best to manage their star’s body through more rest and recovery to ensure he’s as close to 100 percent as possible.
