Diehard New York Knicks fan Spike Lee is enjoying the playoffs … by a lot! In fact, he went absolutely nuts after a deep triple from rookie Immanuel Quickley.

Late in the second quarter of the Knicks-Hawks Game 1, Quickley banked a long-range bomb to cut the lead of the Atlanta Hawks to just one. Of course, everyone in Madison Square Garden was hyped at the big-time play. Lee, for his part, couldn't help but jump around the sidelines in excitement for what he just witnnessed.

This is exactly the energy and passion the Knicks have been missing over the last few years. However, it's hard to blame the fans for losing interest on the team after years of mediocrity and failed pursuit of big-name free agents.

The 2020-21 season, however, has been different for Knicks supporters. With Julius Randle's rise to stardom injecting some much-needed firepower to the offense and Tom Thibodeau bringing a winning culture, the team changed for the better and became instant contenders in the postseason.

New York finished as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, giving them homecourt advantage–which is undoubtedly good news for fans of the team who has been waiting for years to witness playoff basketball.

Spike Lee didn't have the best relationship with the Knicks franchise over the last few years. In fact, during the 2019-20 season, the legendary film director had a verbal dispute with the team after reportedly using the wrong entrance in MSG. He also once ripped team officials for disrespecting their own legend in Patrick Ewing.

Sure enough, those issues are a thing of the past now, as Lee clearly looks to be having fun supporting the organization he so dearly loved.
