New York Knicks president Steve Mills firmly believes in second-year shooting guard Damyean Dotson. After a rough showing in the Las Vegas Summer League, Dotson's future was uncertain. But after a strong start to the season, Dotson has cemented his place on the Knicks.

“I believe in this kid,” Mills told Ian Begley of ESPN. “Because if you spent time with him in the summer league this guy was down, he had a really bad summer league. He was not sure he was going to be able to make this team when we started our summer activities. So for me to watch this kid sort of fight through and come together and stay focused and start to play well (is impressive).”

The rotation in New York is crowded with youngsters, so it hasn't always been easy for Dotson to find minutes. But he has remained ready at every turn.

“But when he goes through the DNPs (a four-game last month), he still is focused on trying to keep himself in the right space mentally and the right place in terms of his timing,” Mills said to Begley. “And then when he gets a chance to play, he's ready to produce, he's ready to perform. So that says a ton about his resilience and the character he has.”

With the standout rookies on the Knicks, it's easy to forget about Dotson. But the shooting guard from the University of Houston is making a name for himself and has turned Mills into one big believer.
