Veteran power forward Taj Gibson knows being on the New York Knicks alone will get you criticized since the media in The Big Apple is ruthless.

Gibson says the players in New York don't look at what the media is saying about the team and that he believes “in what we’ve got going here.”

Gibson, who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, can’t wait to get started with the Knicks. He signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Knicks this summer after spending the past two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gibson is ready to teach the youngsters on the Knicks what it takes to win on a nightly basis in the NBA. He has only missed the playoffs twice in his NBA career. The Knicks, meanwhile, haven’t made the postseason since 2013.

Gibson, who is the definition of a professional, will have his patience tested playing for the Knicks, but he’s ready for the challenge of making New York a winning franchise again.

Last season with the Timberwolves, Gibson averaged 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 70 games while shooting 56.6 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 75.7 percent from the free-throw line.

On the Knicks, Gibson is reuniting with Bobby Portis. The two were teammates on the Chicago Bulls.
